Empty Chairs is run by volunteers around their jobs and families. We read everything and usually reply within a few days. If something is time-sensitive - a table tonight, a venue expecting us - say so in the subject line and we’ll get to it sooner.

Empty Chairs is not crisis support. We aren’t trained counsellors and we can’t offer crisis help or reply out of hours.

If you need to speak to somebody tonight, Samaritans are open 24 hours a day on 116 123. The call is free and you don’t have to be suicidal to ring them - they will talk to anyone who is struggling.

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of someone at an Empty Chairs table - a guest, a host, or anyone else - write to [email protected].

Tell us what you saw or heard, where and when, and how we can reach you. You can ask to stay anonymous.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 first. We are volunteers, not an emergency service.

Most of what people write to us about already has a page with the details on it, and going through those is faster than emailing:

• Hosting a table - what’s involved, and the form to apply
• Offering your venue - for pubs and cafes who’d welcome a table
• Partnerships and funding - for organisations who want to work with us
• Supporting us - donations, and the shop

If you’ve already applied and haven’t heard back, do chase us. Things occasionally slip.

Tables are listed on Find an Event, and that listing is the most up to date thing we have. If a table has been called off it stays on the list marked as cancelled, so it’s worth checking there before you set off.

If a listing looks wrong - the wrong address, a table that’s moved, a venue that’s closed - please tell us.

Orders are printed, sold and posted by T-Shirt Studio, so they hold your order details and handle returns and refunds. Their contact details are on the order confirmation they sent you.

If you’ve tried them and got stuck, email us and we’ll chase it on your behalf.

Our privacy page explains what we hold and why. If you want a copy of your data, want it corrected, or want us to delete it, write to [email protected] - you don’t need to give a reason, and it’s free.

If you signed up for event alerts, every one of those emails has a one-click unsubscribe link, which is the fastest way to stop them.
